70/100Pretty decent funny romcom that gets way more hate than it deservesContinue on AniListUzaki-chan is a fairly standard romcom with a simple basis of a loner getting harassed by his overly energetic underclassman who wants to hang out. This kind of story has been done many times before and will be done many more times, so why should you watch this one? It's pretty fun.
It's very easy to dislike this anime, maybe you're just not a fan of silly romcom anime, maybe you feel infuriated because Uzaki's breasts are large, maybe you think she's annoying as hell. If you do think things along these lines, I wouldn't recommend bothering,
Uzaki isn't an incredible anime, it's just pretty alright. The jokes are pretty funny, although a handful of them are somewhat ecchi, the characters work, although they may not be the most unique or interesting, the show looks and sounds pretty good, although it may not be too memorable. The show isn't the kind of thing you should sit down to expecting some amazing tear-jerking romance anime with funny moments, it is a show where the comedy aspect overpowers the romance aspect, which is mainly present as a nice, sweet aftertaste to the silly jokes. The silly jokes themselves could be very hit or miss, it depends, do you actually like romcom humor? The jokes mainly consist of Uzaki and Sakurai being pushed into uncomfortable and embarrassing situations by either the fault of one of them or the various supporting characters who exist only to put them in these situations, the latter probably being the best in terms of comedy.
A lot of people seem to have a problem with the show due to Uzaki's annoying attitude and how she pushes Sakurai to do things with her when he would rather be left alone, having actually watched the show, I feel like I can safely say that he doesn't really mind all that much, being bugged to do things with Uzaki, he finds her as annoying as many of the viewers do, but if he really, truly, wanted to be left alone, he could pretty easily make her go away. It is shown in the anime that he actually does enjoy her company, but maybe you, the viewer, do not, and if that is the case, I would suggest just not watching the show. Ultimately, Uzaki and Sakurai care a lot about each other and worry about each other, I would say that there is an actual amount of development between their relationship as well.
In terms of what I like about the anime, there's quite a bit that makes it feel worthwhile to me. The jokes are pretty funny, the chemistry between Uzaki and Sakurai, while it may seem to be very little at first, is at least decent. There are a few emotional moments that, while not incredible, were at least a little bit touching to me. The animation is fairly good, the soundtrack is okay, the opening song is nice. There's not much outstanding to say about this anime, though I do definitely appreciate that it takes place in college and work settings instead of the much overdone high school and middle school settings, definitely makes the atmosphere a lot more comfortable and relatable to me.
Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! is a fairly fun anime, and if you just want to have a laugh at funny embarrassing romcom shenanigans, give it a try! I definitely enjoyed it, and will be watching season 2 as well.
Uzaki-chan's design actually is pretty good, it's okay to say you just don't like tits and short hair, nobody will judge you.

60/100Excellent manga adaption, just don't expect the masterpiece of the season.Continue on AniListUzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out, your silly fun romance show of the season. Some shows just aren’t meant to be taken super seriously or over analyzed, they are meant to just enjoy and have some fun with. But I feel like that statement kinda comes with a notice or a warning. You will not love and enjoy this show if you come back to it in 5 years, or even 2 years. If you come back to this show in a couple years while binging old stuff, you will find this incredibly uninspired and a complete waste of time. It is the same way with all of these lighthearted comedy romance shows, they all work great in the here and now but not at all in the future.
In general, this show does nothing special or interesting at all. It isn’t revolutionizing characters or visuals or sound or storytelling. The characters are simple and easy to explain; 2 characters like each other but don’t want to admit it and 3 characters just want to watch these 2 interact and at times cause them to grow closer to satisfy their needs. That pretty much sums up the characters, and for me watching the show as it airs week to week it is good enough. You get 22min of enjoyable silliness with these characters, just enough to like them but not enough for them to start getting on my nerves. Now despite the silliness and simpleness, we do get a surprising amount of character growth that shows that progress is occurring. At least with the main 2 characters that is, the rest of the more side cast doesn’t really get much growth at all.
The visuals are quite simple and cheap, and very much fit that generic style that is current popular. You will never see a stunning vista that makes you want to screenshot it. Or that gorgeous panning shot that combines 3D animation and 2D animation in such a fluid way you wonder how they could afford it on a shows budget. Instead it is simple and easy to follow, and you do get moments were things just don’t look right or particularly good at all. But this isn’t that style of show at all, it isn’t meant to be a large budget anime. It is an enjoyable adaptation that stays true to the original art pretty well.
One thing I will praise is the voice actors. They all do a really good job and match the characters perfectly. Overall, they sound just like how I imagined they would sound while reading the manga. In particular I love the Voice Actor for Tsuki Uzaki, Saori Hayami, the airheaded mature voice fits the character just perfectly.
Overall, I’d say give the show a shot. Especially with the second season planned to continue the story more. Especially if you already like the manga. But if you are going to be binging the series later on, just know what to expect and don’t be disappointed to not find the blockbuster of the season.
I’ll also add that if you did end up enjoying the anime. Definitely go track down the manga in whichever way you feel and give it a read. They look similar and the stories are the mostly the same, it is just more time with the enjoyable characters and seeing everyone grow.

66/100An awfully hated anime that I personally enjoyed. It's a cute RomCom with a nice comedy that actually worked for meContinue on AniListAfter seeing so much hate for Uzaki-chan. I kind of got tempted into reviewing and sharing my own thoughts. I personally think the hate is unwarranted and mostly makes no sense. I have seen some good points, but mostly it's all about Uzaki being annoying. So they justify that to get it a terribly low score when there are some good points to discuss her, at least from my own perspective. I will admit. You are not missing much by not watching the show, but it still deserves praise when it's due. What made it fun for me was the two quirky-dorky duos of Sakurai and Uzaki herself. The fact that they are precisely the polar opposite of each other, which is shown through their action and voice actors. You can feel the passion when they are doing their usual thing and as they speak. I might be the only one, but I think the voice acting here was quite good. Except for when Uzaki really laughs, then I do actually find her quite a bit annoying.
How Sakurai broody-moody bounces of with Uzaki's energetic and cheeky personality is a joy ride. It's actually flexible. We got to hear all kinds of subtle tones change, depending on the situation our dorks find themself in, or the other person did to the other. There is no overarching story. It follows the Sakurai, he tends to spend his time alone. Whether it be in the cinema, at school, or even at the arcade. Then his junior out of nowhere intrudes and welcomes herself into his tedious lifestyle. And to make sure he does more than just waste his life away. From this point on, it follows an episodic route with our duo getting into shenanigans or the busty Uzaki teasing the hell out of Sakurai. While at the same time, they get closer to each other, learn different things about each other, and even find some romance blooming as they get closer, and Sakurai especially starts to tolerate having Uzaki around him.
Contrary to popular belief, I found it cute, wholesome, and fun to watch when I turned my brain off and prepped some snacks. We got tons of adorable moments with these two that I adored, which melted my heart or made me grin like a total dork. I kind of found myself shipping Uzaki and Sakurai together the more I watched. I enjoyed the binge-ride more than I initially expected. As I was going into this initially, having piled up many episodes for no real reason. I expected to be slogging through, but it went far faster than I had ever imagined. Comedy is certainly a subjective topic so tell me I am not weird for enjoying Uzaki-chan? What keeps it running, among others, is the constant misunderstanding both publicly and by friends or other characters. Even the main duo tends to mistake their reason for doing something quite often, creating some needless commotion but a fun one nonetheless.
The running gag that has been milked into oblivion is that we are in a public area. Everything that comes out Sakurai and Uzaki mouth sounds like they are having an affair. Perhaps something intimately related and so forth. That being said, I never found it boring personally and always got a giggle or two out of it. I savored the hilarious and charming banter of these quirky dorks when they were together, especially. Uzaki got so much hate, and I was not all about her either at first. Then I went deeper and actually came to find her chipper and energetic personality endearing. If there is one thing I am like WTF about Uzaki-chan, it's that annoying cat that just pops up here and there for no real reason. I dunno, it's just bothering me for some odd reason. I adored that time Uzaki became drunk and was saying things she regrets later. There's many sweet and wholesome moments spread across the entire cour. It's true Uzaki forced into Sakurai's life. But she did make sure he avoids wasting his life away. I
It's true in a real-life scenario, that would have the cops being called unless you enjoy the company. But this is anime so let's not be too harsh about these kinds of things. It's especially that this is fiction, so we should allow it to get away with these kinds of tropes if it's not harming you or anyone. Instead of hating it for the silliest reason. Sakurai was against at first but came to find her enjoyable to be with later on. As for the production, it's a-okay, nothing special or to get excited about, go that traditional cute and moe style to it. While the OP is the typical catchy song that gets stuck into your head if you're not careful. ED is beautiful and a good and uplifting way to end a bust-gusting episode of Uzaki-chan.
At one point, Uzaki adorable mom joined and added to the fun we where already having. The way Uzaki-chan does misunderstanding just works. I really don't know how to put it. Usually, I hate the cheap and endless situation that adds nothing to the character or the story. But not here, and I cannot seem to explain why. Uzaki's mom mistaking about Sakurai being into her was just hilarious and cute for me. Then, when she actually thought her own daughter was into her, she killed my sides so damn much. I might be silly or a doofus for enjoying Uzaki-chan, whatever. We enjoy what we want, and people should learn to respect that and not get excessively negative for nothing. Honestly, if you got some hours to kill and need a comedy that might be either hit or miss for you. Give it a go. I am personally looking forward to the sequel.
